Western information warfare against Syria

On Sunday, at the UN emergency Security Council, Western countries roughly criticized Syria and Russia blaming the armies of both countries for war crimes. This happened amid the successes of the Syrian army and aviation in Aleppo.

In such a case, the West’s inconsistency is evident: when Assad’s army is attacking and pushing the US-backed militants, Washington and its allies give a new impulse for the information campaign aimed at discrediting Damascus’ actions.

Thus, the US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power immediately called the actions of the Syrian army ‘barbarian’ and the leading Western media published news and articles in which the government troops were considered responsible for killing civilians. For instance, Voice of America published a piece of news titled Syria bombards Aleppo and USA Today writes that ‘civilian deaths mount as Aleppo siege by Syrian forces advances.’

However, when such events as airstrikes against the Syrian army in Deir Ez-Zor take place, the West just turns away considering such incidents quite natural. Thus, CNN immediately drew its readers’ attention to the fact that the US airstrikes had been made ‘by mistake.’

The US turns out to depict itself as the biggest peace fighter but the reality shows that one of Washington’s main targets is not a fight against terrorism but the defeat of the government troops and Bashar Assad. Now, a lot of facts can prove that.

For one, as the head of Syrian parliament Hadiya Khalaf Abbas stated, Damascus possesses an audio recording of conversation between ISIS terrorists and US military prior to the US-led coalition airstrikes against government troops in Deir Ez-Eor. Therefore, terrorists were cooperating with Washington.

This is grounded by Abu al-Ezz, one of al-Nusra’s field commanders, who openly admitted that America is supplying them with weapons and ammunition. That sheds light upon quite a strong contrast between the US image created by the Western media and the reality.

The West should pay attention to how the situation in Syria is portrayed in Western media and what the things really are to understand the US’ destructive role both on the informational field and the field of battle.
